Early morning walk thru the Headwaters Trail, and down to the river. With the
trees and shrubs in Full bloom today the migrants are very active depsite the
wind. One only needs to walk to the second pond and look at the trees to the
west in full bloom, it will only be a matter of minutes before you see Orioles
and Warblers.

Some of the birds I spotted, many others were heard/seen but unidentified.
Pair of Spotted Sandpiper, very vocal and busy working the shorelines of the
Rouge River tributary.
Many pairs of "Northern Orioles" vocal and flying from the high Populars to the
crab apples and various trees in full bloom.
Also following the Orioles are what appear to be Yellow Warblers, although upon
second inspection looks very similar to a Prairie Warbler unless there are
several warbler species.
Northern Cardinals.
Many Red-Winged Blackbirds who are very territorial as they all have nests in
the immediate vacinity of the ponds.
American Gold Finch

Pinceton Rd.

and Elgin Mills (at the Ricmond Green entrance).
