A Red-headed woodpecker was seen on Monday, May 18 along Dumfries Road, approximately 1.7 km west of Pinehurst Rd at approximately 1:30 PM. To my surprise it was seen flying between trees along the side of the road. There is a significant large upland forest close by (Spottiswood Lakes), and I figure this is why the woodpecker was in the area.
