This afternoon at 3:15 there was a juvenile Golden Eagle perched in a tree
about 100m east of Hwy 28, about 15 minutes south of Bancroft. The exact
location was in a wetland at a bend in the road 1.1km north of the Eels Lake
Public Landing Road, which is between Apsley and Silent Lake Provincial Park
(closer to Silent Lake). There is a small municipal dump just south of Eels
Lake Public Landing Road that is open Friday, Sunday, and Monday from 9am-4pm,
which may be worth checking out if you are looking for the bird.
