Oshawa Second Marsh Little Gull staging has started early this year. The first 2 showed up on March 27, on March 31 there were 4 and today 1.

Other species observed this morning include
Waterfowl 19 species including Wood Duck 5 ,Gadwall 36, American Black Duck 26, Northern Shoveler 3, Northern Pintail 25

Pied-billed Grebes in the Marsh and Red-necked Grebes in Lake Ontario adjacent to the marsh

Gulls 6 species, including:1 Little, 2 Bonaparte's, 1 Iceland

Other species observed include Cooper's Hawk 1, Eastern Phoebe 2, Tree Swallow 6, Fox Sparrow 2

There is extensive mud flats in the northern 1/2 of the marsh and Jim's Pond (pond south of office) has sprung it's annual leak so mudflats are created there again this year. Only Shorebirds seen were Killdeer.

Directions

Exit from the 401 at the Harmony Rd. Exit(419) in Oshawa. Go south on
Farewell St. Colonel Sam Drive. Turn East onto Colonel Sam Drive and follow
to the parking lot at the GM Headquarters. Park in the west parking lot
close to the marsh. The east (GM) platform is visible from the NW corner of
the lot.
