Went to check out the Port Stanley Sewage Lagoons yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon
at approximately 4:20pm. Unlike many other sewage lagoons, you cannot walk the
berms here. Viewing is restricted to two observation "blinds". Out of the
hundreds of gulls present, i was not able to pick out the Franklin's with my
bins, but i took a bunch of photos of the resting flock anyways (resting on the
berm between cell 1 & 2). Upon review of the images at home i was able to
confirm a Franklin's Gull amongst the hundreds of gulls present. Also seen on
the thin shoreline nearest to the blind, 1 golden plover, 2 stilt sandpipers.
Thank you Mr. Atkinson! Scope is definitely recommended if you have one. :D
This was my final stop on a tour of Erie Shoreline today. Some other
highlights....

Hillman Marsh: 4 long-billed dowitcher, 4 dowitcher sp, 2 stilt sandpipers,
least sandpiper, greater yellowlegs, lesser yellowlegs. "Shorebird Cell" is
completely overgrown, however there is some mudflats on the other cell.

Blenheim Lagoons: 3 buff-breasted sandpiper, 2 stilt sandpiper, semipalmated
plover, pectoral sandpipers, least sandpiper, baird's sandpiper (8), killdeer,
blue-winged teal.

Directions to the lagoons per Jeff Atkinson:
To get to the lagoons take the 1st right at bottom of hill, warren st.,as your
coming into town on hwy 4. take this street out of town up hill take 1st right
scotch line, lagoons are just down the road.
