Winter Listers:

A stop at Erieau at 11:10 this morning yielded a Ruddy Turnstone (found by Alan
Wormington Dec 1st) and a Purple Sandpiper. The birds were difficult to see as
they were mostly on the leeward side of the rocks until a fishing boat flushed
them. They then landed out of sight behind vegetation. Hopefully they will
return to the rocks later today.

Directions: Take Count Rd 12 into Erieau and follow Mariner's Rd to the end to
the government dock. The birds were visible from the left end. Look east behind
the breakwall. Both birds were amongst the rocks at the left end of the small
island.

The Wilson's Phalarope was still at the Blenheim lagoons today. It was seen in
the north east corner of pond 3 at 10:15 a.m. Also at the lagoons was a flock
of 30 American Pipits.

Blenheim Lagoon Directions: Exit 401 at #90 (Communications Rd.) and head to
Blenheim. At the main stoplight turn right (west) onto Rd. 3. Travel about 1.5
km and turn right (north) onto Lagoon Rd., at the car wash, and continue north
about 1 km to gate. You must have annual permit to enter, available at the
Municipal Service Centre.

Cheers:
