Five COMMON REDPOLLS of the "flammea" type were at the feeders on Hilda Road,
west of downtown Ottawa, this afternoon. A flock of approx. 30 BOHEMIAN
WAXWINGS made a brief fly-by over the area. Upon leaving, a NORTHERN SHRIKE
was perched on the telephone lines at the intersection of Rifle Road and
Carling Avenue. The shrike was last seen flying south after a flock of
BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS, possibly the same as observed earlier (the shrike was
unsuccessful in capturing one).

DIRECTIONS: From Carling Avenue W., turn right onto Rifle Road. Make a right
onto Lois, and then another right onto Hilda Road. The feeders are at the top
of the hill.
