*Point** Pelee National Park** Migration Update for: MAY 10, 2011*

After the brief rain storm cleared the birds began singing to their hearts
content. Many notable species were found in several locations throughout the
park.

The immature PACIFIC LOON was re-found this morning by many observers on the
West Beach, flying south towards the point. Hopefully it will remain in the
area and be re-found by others.

Another notable species was a PARASITIC JAEGAR seen flying North from the
east side of the tip. A GLAUCOUS GULL was seen nearby.

The radar showed many birds moving last night resulting in higher numbers of
warblers seen at the park today. 31 species of warbler have already been
seen.

In the Tilden’s Woods there was 2 BAY-BREASTED WARBLERS, 1 PROTHONOTARY
WARBLER, 1 LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH, 1 GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER, 1 NORTHERN PARULA
and a late PINE WARBLER.

Along the Woodland Nature Trail another GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER was found, 1
HOODED WARBLER, BLUE-WINGED WARBLER, ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER, 1
YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT and NORTHERN PARULA.

Huge numbers of ORIOLEs and ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAKs have arrived in the park
after last night. A few WHITE-EYED VIREOs have been showing up in several
locations including Chinquapin Trail.

Other wildlife:

An Eastern Pipistrelle bat has been roosting every day for the past 7 days
or so on the washroom buildings at the tip. This is the smallest bat in
eastern North America.

Outside the Park:

Yesterday a Hillman Marsh several shorebirds were seen. 170 DUNLIN, 5 LESSER
YELLOWLEGS, 1 RUDDY TURNSTONE, 5 LEAST SANDPIPER, 2 GREATER YELLOWLEGS and 3
