Hi all. One of those sightings I'd almost sooner not post: Near the northeast end of the Bowl at Col. Sam, well up in a twin cedar immediately east of the main row of spruces, at 12:40 today, a fine male Western Tanager, seen for perhaps 4 seconds while I scrambled to get my stuff into place for the digiscoped record. The bird disappeared from view as I was scrambling, and was not refound in more than an hour of subsequent watching and waiting. I was alone. I almost wish I hadn't seen it! But I had.
Chagrined, Skip Colonel Sam Smith Park is at the base of Kipling Avenue in Toronto. The Bowl is just to the east of Kipling and the Humber College buildings, on the south side of Lakeshore Blvd. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
