Today there were 2 Red-necked Phalaropes at Blenheim sewage lagoons. One
was in Pond 2, the other in Pond 3.
Recently, two sprinkler cells have been turned back on, hence some
shorebirds are taking adavantage! About 50 birds present the last few days,
mostly yellowlegs. Also 3 Stilt Sandpipers and 1 White-rumped today among
others.
In Pond 3, a good variety of ducks including about 15 Redhead. Also a
(transitional) Horned Grebe has been around for a while.
Over at Ridgetown Lagoon, the habitat is still fairly good. Today and
yesterday 8 Short-billed Dowitchers among other common species.
