Thanks to today's counters and observers...Colin, Jim, Keith, Dave V. and Kathy. Weather: Predominantly easterly winds...but varying from ESE to ENE Then back round to SE and then all the way back to S..and light for the day. Temp started out at 14C and got ot a very warm high of 27C. Lots of cloud cover today ranging from 40% to 90%. Raptor Observations: Total birds for today's flight was 316. Very slow for the first couple of hours (just a single bird)...then picking up with several species tallied...TV's (162), Harriers (8), Sharpies (109), Cooper's (7), N. Goshawk (1), Red-shoulders (5), Redtails (18), Golden Eagles (3) and just 3 Kestrels. The GE's observed today appeared to be 1 adult bird (very dark overall) and 2 juvenile looking birds. The 3 Kestrels counted today brings our season total for that species to exactly 5000. Non-raptor Observations: A few more Monarchs today still passing by...and lots of E.
