Since many people have been inquiring, the Kingsville Great Gray Owl was seen
on Friday morning, January 6th. The owl was just south of its previous location
and was on the McCain Sideroad just south of Road 2 West until at least 10:30
a.m. when it was flushed, and this comes from the mouth of a local
photographer, by another photographer who attempted to get too close to the
bird.
The owl has been very cooperative, often sitting right next to the road. There
should be no need, even for someone with a point-and-shoot camera, to get that
close to the bird.
The McCain Sideroad can be reached from Road 2 West either off of the Division
Road coming from the Town of Kingsville or the Arner Townline (County Road 23)
from the Town of Essex in Essex County, Ontario.
As I will be in Michigan for the weekend it would be appreciated if someone who
sees the bird on Saturday or Sunday would post to Ontbirds.
Thank you.
