Oshawa Second Marsh Little Gull viewing weekend. 40+ people came by and most were entertained by Little Gull courtship flights 43 Little Gulls and 1500 Bonaparte's Gulls were in the marsh this morning. The gulls came in early and thick with 1000 Bonnies and 30 little gulls in the marsh by 7am Up to 29 Little Gulls at a time were performing their courtship display flights. other observations (51 species observed from the platform) Larids: Great Black-backed Gull 1, Caspian Tern 5, Common Tern 2 Greater Yellowleg,Virginia Rail, Marsh Wren, Palm Warbler, Northern Mockingbird and Eastern Towhee and visible movement of Meadowlarks Little Gull viewing weekend April 28 & 29 (Saturday/Sunday) - 9th annual Little Gull viewing at Second Marsh, from dawn to 9:30 am. Viewing will occur from the 'GM' platform. Park in the west General Motors of Canada parking lot (off Colonel Sam Drive), enter the trail from the southwest corner of the lot, and follow directional signs to the platform.
Directions Exit from the 401 at the Harmony Rd. Exit(419) in Oshawa. Go south on Farewell St. Colonel Sam Drive. Turn East onto Colonel Sam Drive and follow to the parking lot at the GM Headquarters. Park in the west parking lot close to the marsh. The east (GM) platform is visible from the NW corner of the lot.
