Hey Birders, The last 3 days have been relatively slow, with non-conducive weather for migrants, though its looking like this week will be very good! Not too many new migrants have been noted on the island, as echoed by Sarah Rupert's email from Point Pelee today.
Highlights: Yellow-throated Warblers - the 2 males were still chillin' out on the south shore as of lunch today. 1 is at the pumphouse at the intersection of South Shore Road and Curry Road, while the other is about 100m. east towards Dick's Marina. American Bittern - 1 bird was flushed from the quarry at the Winery yesterday (April 28th) Northern Mockingbird - 1 bird was seen along the south shore today Pied-billed Grebe - 1 bird at the ferry dock today - surprisingly a rareish bird here on the island Other new migrants noted over the past 3 days include: Red-headed Woodpecker, Least Flycatcher, Warbling Vireo, White-crowned Sparrow, Lincoln's Sparrow. 10 species of warblers have been seen, though new migrants to come in the past few days include; Yellow, Black-and-white, Ovenbird, and N. Waterthrush. Flights are running several times daily, from Windsor, out of Great Lakes Airline. Good Birding!
