Ontbirders,

This morning, there was a male Northern Bobwhite calling across from my house
- in a stand of Red Cedar - along the Thames River valley. I have no illusions
as to the wild providence of this bird, as the Oxford population was probably
extirpated two decades ago, and [despite what some contend] this species is
still frequently kept in captivity in Southern Ontario.

I suppose if the bird is 20+ years old, it could be the last of Oxford's wild
Bobwhite's.........;]

If interested, the bird was calling just north and east of the ''Dorland
Subdivision'' sign, along Ingersoll Road, about 2.5 km west of Woodstock.

Cheers,
