Subject: [Ontbirds] White Pelicans at Holiday Beach C.A.

There were 7 American White Pelicans visible from the hawk tower at Holiday
Beach C.A. today.  Hundreds of Great Egrets and Great Blue Herons were also
present.  Water levels in the Big Creek marsh are low and the open muddy spots
are attracting a few shorebirds. Migrant swallows, flycatchers and warblers
were abundant today and we recorded 80 species by lunch time. Highlights
included Black-billed and Yellow-billed Cuckoo, 13 species of warbler including
a Connecticut Warbler (being banded),  3 Olive-sided Flycatchers, 4
Great-crested Flycatchers, and good numbers of Red-breasted Nuthatches and
Blue-grey Gnatcatchers.

Holiday Beach C.A. is located on the shore of Lake Erie off County Road 50 in
Amherstburg.
