At 7:30 this evening I found a basic plumaged American Avocet along the Couture Dyke in the eastern part of Hillman Marsh, Essex County. Crappy digiscoped photos taken. It is still present now at dusk.
The Couture dyke is accessed from the south side of Mersea Road 2, east of the bridge. Despite no trespassing signs, they are tolerant of birders walking in. Walk half way around the dyke and there are mudflats on the south side of the dyke where the avocet was. Good birding, Josh Vandermeulen joshvandermeulen.blogspot.com _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
