Ontbirds subscribers, Despite good morning coverage, there have been no further hurricane waifs found along the lake off of Thickson's Woods today and very little movement with the exception of Long-tailed Ducks and small numbers of scoters. This afternoon there have been several mixed flocks of crossbills (91 White-winged Crossbills and 27 Red Crossbills) seen around the tops of conifers along Crystal Beach Boulevard. There are also more than a hundred Pine Siskins moving around the area. There are still 14 Brant foraging near the exposed shoreline rocks on either side of the tip of Thickson Point. Winds are very calm here today - perhaps activity will pick up again with stronger winds. Glenn CoadyWhitby, Ontario To view Lake Ontario off Thickson's Woods, take highway 401 to exit 412 (Thickson Road) and take Thickson Road S. south about 2 km. and park at the cul-de-sac at its terminus. Walk further south off the cul-de-sac on Thickson Rd. until you reach the private road (Crystal Beach Boulevard). Birders are welcome to observe from the benches in front of my house (#330). However, please do not drive onto Crystal Beach Boulevard. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
