The 28th annual Cedar Creek CBC (central Essex County) was held on December 15
and tallied 88 species and 17,155 individuals.

We recorded a good variety of water birds on the count as there is no ice on
Lake Erie or any of the local creeks and ditches. The best bird of the count
was a Mountain Bluebird found by Alan Wormington.

Other reported highlights included 1 Cackling Goose, 4 Trumpeter Swans, 2
Horned Grebes, 1 Sandhill Crane, and record high counts for Gadwall (16),
Blue-winged Teal (6), Northern Shoveler (56), Red-bellied Woodpecker (98),
White-breasted Nuthatch (138) and Carolina Wren (52).
