Hi everyone, Got out to bird in the fog and warm temps today, for a bit. Very little open water left but some decent birds still kicking around:
Trumpeter Swan - pair of birds still in open water on Moore Lake below inflow. Also present there are a pair of Canada Geese and a pair of Common Goldeneye (both quite rare this time of year). Moore Falls is located on Hwy 35, S of Minden. Belted Kingfisher - heard or observed in 3 different locations! One bird calling regularly at Moore Falls. Another bird was found at Sandy Bay, Gull Lake, near the mouth of the Gull River (off Hwy 35, just S of Minden). Jim Hopkins also heard a single bird while hiking along the Drag River, about 1.5 km E of Haliburton. Northern Pintail - single drake still hanging around with Mallards and Blacks in the village of Haliburton.
