This morning Rory MacKay and I observed an immature Golden Eagle on Highway 32 one km south of Highway 15. At first it was soaring high in the air, then it went into a power dive with talons extended, eventually swooping down into a field behind some shrubs. It apparently missed whatever it was after and soon returned to the sky, soaring eastward and eventually out of sight. A few minutes earlier around 20 Wild Turkeys were seen very close to where the eagle went down; quite possibly it was after one of them.
