My sister and I saw two pied-billed grebes on Feb. 18, 2013, while
doing a count for the Great Backyard Bird Count. Sorry for the
lateness, but the sighting has only just now been confirmed. (I have
photos of one of them.) We also saw at least six white-winged
crossbills, one common redpoll, two white-winged scoters, and two
northern mockingbirds.
Humber Bay Park East is at Lakeshore Boulevard West and Park Lawn
Road. Go south on Marine Parade Drive and then left on Humber Bay
Park Road East. Go north and east from the parking lot to the little
bridge that would take you back to Marine Parade Drive if you
followed it all the way. The grebes were east of the bridge. The
cross-bills and the redpoll were in the trees about 10 metres from
where the path starts south of the parking lot that goes to the
beach and the east trails. The scoters were in the bay between the
park and the "mainland".
