Hi all,

Just in case there is some interest, up to 11 ROSS’S GEESE have been around
Shrewsbury in south Chatham-Kent. A pure flock of ten was found on Thursday by
Steve Charbonneau just north of Erieau, but lately they have been alternating
from an open area on the Bay off Shrewsbury to corn fields north of the village
along Communications Road. Another single Ross’s Goose (first seen 12 Feb.)
seems to hang out with about a dozen Snow Geese + one blue morph.
When I first arrived about 08:30 this morning, the geese were coming in off the
Bay to the fields. They later went back out to the open puddle on the Bay.

The open water on the Bay contains a wide variety of ducks including several
spring migrants such as Gadwall, Northern Pintail, American Wigeon,
Green-winged Teal (single male) and others. To boot, a male EURASIAN WIGEON
was there early this morning as well!

Directions to Shrewsbury:
Exit 401 at #90 and head down Communications Rd. through Blenheim. Head
straight towards the village of Shrewsbury. The fields are to your right south
of Bisnett Line. At the stop sign at New Scotland Line, turn right and go
about three blocks to Brock Street. Head straight down to the dock (where the
N. Wheatear was in 2007!) and look towards the southwest for the open water
puddle.

Cheers,
