Today I birded Amherst Island. Near Millhaven there were 3 Red-tailed Hawks, one Northern Shrike, and a flock of 13 Bohemian Waxwings. Along the south shore of Amherst Island there were 8 Red-tailed Hawks, 7 American Kestrels, 3 Rough-legged Hawks (all light morphs), 3 Bald Eagles, 2 Northern Harriers, 1 Cooper¹s Hawk, and an adult tundrius Peregrine. Also, 8 Tundra Swans, 400 Common Goldeneye, 500 Redhead, 200 Greater Scaup, 8 Bufflehead, 1 Bohemian Waxwing and 1 Northern Shrike. Amerherst Island is reached by ferry from Millhaven, departing on the hour.
