A Magnificent Hummingbird was identified coming to a local feeder yesterday morning. Unfortunately it was very skittish and only fed briefly before disappearing so we don't have a photo.
The feeder was watched all day yesterday but It was not seen again and it hasn't returned yet this morning. I suspect that it was carried here in the storms of the past two weeks and is heading south now that the weather has cleared so it might turn up anywhere in Ontario or surrounding states. For new birders - this hummingbird is HUGE, appears too big to be a hummingbird, green/blue/purple depending on how the light hits the iridescent feathers, the bill is long and straight. Happy humming, Cindy www.ontariohummingbirds.ca _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
