This morning there were good numbers of Brant (2 flocks of about 50 each) and
all three scoters on Lac Deschennes, Ottawa, best viewed from the point at Dick
Bell Park. The scoters were mostly in small active flocks, several of which
were put up by a passing adult Bald Eagle. Numbers are guesstimates as the
flocks kept moving and mixing up: 80 White-winged, 10 Black and 6 Surf; most of
the birds were adult males. Dick Bell Park is located on the north side of
Carling Ave between Moodie Drive and Holy Acres Lane.
