There were two white phase snow geese in the reservoir at Earl Rowe Park just west of Alliston yesterday afternoon.
A few kilometres away at the Everett gravel pits a lesser black-backed gull made a brief appearance. Also present were 2 American Golden Plovers, 3 Dunlin, 4 Greater Yellowlegs and a Great Egret. To reach Earl Rowe Park go west on hwy 89 from Alliston. At the edge of town take the 7th concession north and follow the signs to the park. There are hundreds of Canada Geese in the reservoir. The snow geese were in the northern arm of the reservoir. The gravel pits can be reached by continuing west out of Alliston on hwy 89 and turning north on the 3rd Concession. Continue north to the 5th concession of Tosoronto. Turn right (east) and when you reach the top of the hill you will see the pit on the left. -- John Schmelefske # 7360 RR # 4 Alliston, Ontario,Canada, L9R 1V4 Email: j.sc...@gmail.com Watercolour Gallery: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2001214&id=1051632050&l=ea990bf4ce _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
