I had delicious close-up views of a Red Phalarope in basic plumage as it flew
within 10m of shore into the strong southwesterly breeze at Point Petre this
morning (ca. 10:30 a.m.).

In the five hours I spent there, Lake Ontario was alive with water birds --
large numbers of Long-tailed Duck, White-winged Scoter, Bufflehead, Bonaparte's
and other common gulls, mergansers, several Common Loons, a few Surf Scoters
and Horned Grebes, a Red-necked Grebe, a Glaucous Gull, and other expected
species.

Good birding!
