The HARRIS’S SPARROW that first tuned up before New Year`s Day, was present
again today at a feeder along County Road 11 near Cherry Valley, Prince Edward
County, and it was there yesterday as well. The owner purchased some safflower
seed which is supposed to be readily taken by this species, and that also
attracted a FOX SPARROW and two WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS. Because of an
impending storm in NY state and NJ starting this evening, the home owner will
not be driving back to the States until the weekend, so anyone who's interested
is welcome to come and try their luck... the bird seems to have settled in for
the duration. The host has put seed in a feeder and on the ground on the
little deck area to the right of the house, under two large blue spruces to the
left of the driveway in the front of the house, and under the bushes under the
window to the left of the front door, if anyone wants to try a quick drive-by
if she is not there. Address is 636 County Road 18, just past Cherry Valley.

DIRECTIONS: From Picton, take Lake Street (becomes C.R. 10) from the traffic
lights at the LCBO, and drive 8 km to Cherry Valley. At the Stop sign, proceed
straight ahead and follow C.R. 18 for about 4 km to Civic Address 636 at Hummel
Lane.
