Just to clarify the sightings of the subject birds that were observed from 3:30
to 3:45 pm as close as 40 to 50 feet from us.

The two flocks of blackbirds were not together.

The 12 Brewer’s (there may have been a few more behind the cedar hedge), (both
males and dark eyed females) were in the ploughed field about 20 meters in from
County Road 60 with a couple of Common Grackles and a Killdeer and the flock of
Rusties (males and females) were around the corner about 250 meters further
along Traylor Road Ext between the road and a cedar hedge and not with the
Brewer’s.

Very nice looking males and the most that either Ian or myself have ever seen
or expected to see in Ontario.

A good comparison between the Brewer’s, Rusties and Grackles.

The greenish colour on the back almost looked like a pretty teal colour in the
rare bit of sun that peaked through.

Some or all of these birds may remain in the area as it will be cloudy over
night but alas with SW winds.

Good luck to anyone that goes and tries to see these nice looking birds in
there fresh glossy breeding plumage.

Directions:

Go West on Road 60 from Hwy #59 (north of Long Point, and Port Rowan), turn
right on
of Troyer Road Ext.(Extension). The Brewer’s were in the ploughed field on
your right – See Above.
