Despite the intermittent rain today the Tip of the Point remained very active with at least 18 species of warbler out of a total of 23 warbler species seen so far today.
Similar to yesterday many of the warblers were female including: BLACKBURNIAN; CANADA; AMERICAN REDSTART; and CHESTNUT-SIDED. Males of CAPE MAY, MAGNOLIA and WILSON'S WARBLER were also in the mix as were singletons of ORANGE-CROWNED and PALM WARBLER. Also showing well at the Tip were WARBLING, PHILADELPHIA and RED-EYED VIREOS. Cuckoos are still being reported from around the park including one YELLOW-BILLED near the end of the boardwalk portion of the Tip trail. A PROTHONOTARY WARBLER has been reported from the bench at the north end of the Chinquapin Trail near the seasonal trail that connects back to the Tilden Trail, and a YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT has been reported from the Loop Woods between the tip tram stop and the sparrow field. A LEAST BITTERN has reported from the south-east corner of the Sparrow Field, and outside the park a BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON has been seen near the east end of Road D. There is a recent post of a Cattle Egret on the west side of Hillman Marsh.
