Friday late afternoon I was coming home on Hwy 7 to Carleton Place. At McGowan Lake and Hwy 7 there were 5 Trumpeters Swans which flew overhead, likely scared by the constant gunfire from the other shore. Further on just east of Perth on Hwy 7 in large open fields before Gardiner Road a flock of 20 Pipits landed in a field of dried soya beans. Today, I drove to Joes Lake in the top NW corner of Lanark County and saw 2 Golden Eagles over the lake. If you take Hwy 7 west from Ottawa to Perth then north on Hwy 511 to the Road marked to Poland you end up a the bottom end of the lake. Turn right onto the road marked to Flower Sta. and watch the skies along the way. Also there are Hooded Mergansers and Bufflehead where Hwy 7 cross the Mississippi at Carleton Place. cheers
