Temperatures were warmer than recent outings, reaching up into the low 40s. The wind was strong and out of the south. Raptor Observations: A trickle of Redtails floated past, frequently crossing well to our north. Two distant Roughlegs wandered by, too. Not much happening, otherwise. Non-raptor Observations: White-winged Scoter (4), Sandhill Crane (14), Common Goldeneye (4), Gadwall (3), Common Loon (1), Horned Grebe (3), Ruddy Duck (4), Great Black-backed Gull (2), Bonaparte's Gull (20+), American Tree Sparrow (3), Eastern Bluebird (10), Brown Creeper (1), Pine Siskin (40+), American Goldfinch (4), American Crow (30+) Predictions: Mostly cloudy with mild temps, moderate west wind and a 40 percent chance of light rain. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jonathan Stein (steinj...@gmail.com) Detroit River Hawk Watch information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org Site Description: The Detroit River Hawk Watch (a joint venture of the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge and its Friends group, the International Wildlife Refuge Alliance) is the Boat Launch at Lake Erie Metropark located approximately 20 miles south of Detroit, Michigan. The location is at the mouth of the Detroit River as it enters Lake Erie. Directions to site: Lake Erie Metropark: >From I-75, exit at Huron River Drive (exit 27). Continue east on Huron River Drive. Turn left on West Jefferson and proceed a few hundred yards to the entrance of Lake Erie Metropark.
