Hello Ontbirds people,

This morning (approx. 9:00 - noon), Bob Cermak, Aaron Hywarren, Bernie
Ladouceur, Paul Mirsky and I observed a large, tight flock of Snow Geese (our
collective estimate was ~ 75,000) in the Cobb's Creek floodplain area along
Russell Rd. southwest of Johnston Rd., east of Bourget. Lighting and distance
were prohibitive for discerning any other species among the flock though there
were several blue morph Snow's. The flock appeared restless and lifted several
times before re-settling in the same flooded field. As always, quite the
spectacle!

Also 16 Sandhill Cranes in fields near Smith Rd. and Milton Rd southwest of
Navan -- a high number for our area in spring.

There is currently lots of flooding in the agricultural fields east of Ottawa,
but the water is receding & will likely continue as the forecast is for sun &
double-digit temps for most of the coming week....ahhh, spring at last!

Directions (to the Snow Geese) from Ottawa:

Hwy 417 east to exit 88. North through Vars to Russell Rd. (#26). East to
Bourget and continue to Johnston Rd. which is still flooded, not yet drive-able.
