BIRD FESTIVAL at Ruthven Park National Historic Site May 8 & 9, 2015
Activities for kids too!
The theme for this event is neotropical migratory birds in celebration of the
TORONTO 2015 Pan/Parapan AM Games this coming summer.
The event will be held rain or shine so come dressed for the weather.
Program:
May 8 at 7 pm. Opening and presentation by Jody Allair on Conserving our Shared
Birds
followed by social time with the Latin Vintage Orchestra and refreshments.
May 9 - the bird banding station opens at 6 am
- 8 am Bird Census Walk
-9 am Spring Trail Walk
-10 am Make a Leaf Library
-11 am - 3 pm Face Painting for kids of all ages and Fluffy the
Clown
-1 pm - Canadian Raptor Conservancy- Birds of Prey Show
Presentations: 11 am The Discovery of the Jocotoco Antpitta and the
Development of New Approaches to Conservation in Latin America - David Agro
2 pm Birds of Tierra del Fuego – Geoff Carpentier
3 pm Ruthven and its Neotropical Feathered Friends -
Matt Timpf
4 pm COTERC: The Canadian Organization for Tropical
Education and Rain Forest Conservation
5 pm Closing Reception
