Although the winds were favourable the hawks didn't migrate in the numbers
expected. Still a respectable 105 birds were seen as follows:
Turkey Vulture (Cathartes aura) 40
Northern Harrier (Circus cyaneus) 9
Sharp-shinned Hawk (Accipiter striatus) 36
Cooper's Hawk (Accipiter cooperii) 1
Northern Goshawk (Accipiter gentilis) 1
Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) 1
Red-tailed Hawk (Buteo jamaicensis) 10
American Kestrel (Falco sparverius) 6
Peregrine Falcon (Falco peregrinus) 1
Amongst the 63 species seen today were:
Snow Goose (Chen caerulescens) 1
Cackling Goose (Branta hutchinsii) 1
Blue-winged Teal (Anas discors) 1
Great Egret (Ardea alba) 7 no wing tags
Black-bellied Plover (Pluvialis squatarola) 1
Greater Yellowlegs (Tringa melanoleuca) 3
Lesser Yellowlegs (Tringa flavipes) 2
Hudsonian Godwit (Limosa haemastica) 1 long staying bird
Sanderling (Calidris alba) 1
Dunlin (Calidris alpina) 12
Pectoral Sandpiper (Calidris melanotos) 5
Wilson's Snipe (Gallinago delicata) 1
Gray Catbird (Dumetella carolinensis) 1
American Pipit (Anthus rubescens) 2
Pine Siskin (Spinus pinus) 15

Btw the Ash-throated seekers showed up in droves at the hawk watch - nice to
see so many old friends! Now back to the hinterland ...
