In addition, 1 local adult Bald Eagle flew low along the Cliff, headed east, a single Red-tailed Hawk was seen perched in a tree at the B&B, 2 TVs were spotted circling the water tower near Port Stanley and that was absolutely IT for raptor activity today. Non-raptor Observations: Passerines were busy along Hawk Cliff Rd, especially in areas where the road is lined with goldenrod and sumacs. Few species were reported, but multiples of several species were found including Downy Woodpecker, White-breasted Nuthatch, Black-capped Chickadee, Golden-crowned Kinglet, Northern Cardinal, Blue Jay, Am. Tree Sparrow, Dark-eyed Junco and Am. Goldfinch. Singles of Northern Flicker and Red-bellied Woodpecker were also found. At the top of Hawk Cliff Rd were 24 House Sparrows and about the same of E. Starlings. Many Gulls were noted with sightings of many Herring and Ring-billed Gulls and a few Bonapartes as well. A flock of about 2 dozen Red-winged Blackbirds and a flock of 16 Am. Robins flew west across the field at Sharpie Alley but only 1 small flock of Tundra Swans was reported today. Snow Buntings are still in the area 150 were seen just north of the Cliff. Predictions: Expect a high of 4 C tomorrow, with mainly sunny skies and W wind at about 20 kph. Wednesdays forecast says back to SW winds but still mainly sunny with slightly higher temperatures for mid-week. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Mary Carnahan ([email protected]) Hawk Cliff Hawkwatch information may be found at: http://www.ezlink.on.ca/~thebrowns/HawkCliff/index.htm _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
