Weather: Well, it was dreary. The promised sunshine never broke through and we were dealing with complete cloud all day long. 9kph winds started from the west and shifted more towards the south later on. The temperature rose to just over 4C, and visibility was only around 6 or 7 km. Raptor Observations: One species was seen migrating, I'll let you all guess which that was. Spoiler alert: they were Red-tails (4). They were quite far to the north and so didn't offer up any exceptional looks. On the other hand, the resident 3 adult Bald Eagles were up and about for most of the day, and at one point one of them flew into the nest carrying a gigantic 4' long branch. I guess it's time for winter maintenance. Non-raptor Observations: The morning brought small formations of gulls moving to the west (Bonaparte's, Ring-billed, Herring, Great Black-backed). Over the marsh and beyond, ducks were also on the move; many unidentifiable from a distance, but multiple hundred seen. Our migrating passerines consisted of 4 Horned Larks, 20 starlings, and 19 American Goldfinches.
