At 4:30 this afternoon, a possible American Bittern flew from the catchment
ponds on the west side of the Whitby Shores neighbourhood, heading west towards
the Lynne Shores marsh.

The quick sighting of the bird only allowed for an educated guess based on the
2-tone upper wing pattern as the bird flew off.

A confirmed identification from the Lynne Shores or Cranberry Marsh tomorrow
maybe possible with a better viewing if the bird has stayed in the area.

Lynne Shores Conservation area is on Victoria Street in Whitby between
Lakeridge Road and Brock Street.
