Subject: Pacific Loon, Colonel Samuel Smith Park

The bird was seen again today by myself and another birder‎ Jesse Paltalk. It was southwest of the Whimbrel Watch. Much further out, 500 metres, than the last two days. It dove and was briefly located about 800 metres out moving to the southwest. A note of caution, it takes a lot of patience and luck to see this bird. Other birders present did not see the bird. It dives for one periods of time and can move a considerable distance under water.

Best time is early morning after sunrise to 7:15 AM. Preferably with calm water. Good luck.

The park is located at the south end of Kipling Ave. On Lake Ontario. Walk south on the main path to the point with the telephone pole. Search the lake from here.
