Apologies for the late report. Charmaine Anderson and I searched for an hour
and a half for the Hudsonian Godwit and walked to a several different access
points along the south and south west areas of the marsh. Unfortunately the
conditions worsened and the heat shimmer became a fog rising off of the water
in the marsh. Needless to say the Hudsonian was not refound.
Lots of other shorebirds here primarily Dunlin, Semipalmated Sandpiper and
peeps. As Glenn Coady mentioned yesterday the viewing is best in the early
morning.

Subject: [Ontbirds] Marbled Godwit, Oshawa Second Marsh
#yiv3016652126 body {font-family:"Calibri", "Slate Pro", sans-serif,
"sans-serif";color:#262626;} The Marbled Godwit is still present today. A scope
is required and the heat shimmer makes viewing difficult. After watching the
Godwit through my scope for about 20 minutes it eventually raised it's wings
and the cinnamon colored underwing was very evident. Other birders I spoke to
today said that they had a different looking Godwit earlier this morning,
which suggests that the Hudsonian Godwit seen yesterday afternoon may still be
present as well. We are still searching for it.
Good birding,
Directions: Oshawa Second Marsh is located off of Colonel Sam Dr. In Oshawa
south of highway 401. Park at the west end of the GM parking lot and walk west
to the observation tower.
