Observation start time: 08:00:00
Observation end time: 14:00:00
Total observation time: 6 hours

Official Counter: Tom Bolohan

Observers: Chris Burris, Don MacDonald, Don Taylor, Keith Sealy,
                  Ronnie Goodhand

Visitors:
Thanks to Tom B., Chris B., Keith S., Don McD., Don T. and Ronnie G. for
doing the count today. There were a few visitors including some families
with kids that at least got to see some birds on the move. :)

Weather:
Much better weather today for the hawk migration with light to moderate
winds first from the NW and then swinging to the N and eventually NE for
the rest of the day. Temp cooler to a high if 16C though the humidity was
still a bit high in the morning which may have slowed the migration down a
bit. Some pretty good cloud cover today as well making spotting the birds
easier.

Raptor Observations:
A decent flight today with a total of 481 birds...with a nice flight of
Sharpies (195) just beating out the Broadwings (192). Other species
included TVs (5) the first tallied this year as migrants, Osprey (4), Bald
Eagle (2), N. Harrier (12), Cooper's Hawks (10), Redtails (5), A. Kestrels
and Merlin (6).

Non-raptor Observations:
None reported today.

Predictions:
Well...there's no doubt that a cold front has pushed across the Great Lakes
region with much cooler overnight temps (and even a FROST warning in the
Bancroft area!) into the single digits. This should get the birds moving
for Saturday and with strong NE forecast for the day we could see a good
push of birds. Fingers crossed!
