Weather: Moderately strong Southerly winds all day. Rain started rolling in at about 3:45pm local time, so the count was ended for the day. Raptor Observations: Fairly slow day today, Turkey Vultures were trickling through along the lake for part of the day. One Merlin first thing in the morning, then 3 more in the afternoon. Non-raptor Observations: 2,710 Blue Jays today, there numbers are certainly dwindling. 47 American Robin, 178 American Goldfinch, and our first 4 Pine Siskins of the season were observed migrating. Dabbling duck numbers continue in good numbers on the marsh, as well as a large number of American Coots. http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist/S32101101 One Monarch today. Predictions: Moderate NW winds overnight, but will be out of the W in the morning, switching to SW in the afternoon. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Sean Jenniskens (seanjennisk...@hotmail.com) Holiday Beach Conservation Area information may be found at: http://hbmo.ca/ _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists (OFO) - the provincial birding organization.
