I have been regularly checking a flooded cow paddock along Airport road south of Niagara Stone Road in Niagara-on-the-Lake recently as it has become quite productive for shorebirds. This afternoon I located an adult Stilt Sandpiper along with two White-rumped Sandpipers, among 10 total species. Photos of these birds are embedded in my eBird checklist, located at http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist/S36909621. This spot has been very productive in the past week and the shorebird diversity is constantly changing. I would encourage anyone in the area to check it out frequently before the paddock dries up.
The field is located on the east side of Airport Road, about 1 km south of Niagara Stone Road. This is between St. Catharines and Niagara-on-the-Lake in Niagara Region. The shoulders of the road are quite narrow and traffic can be heavy at times, so exercise caution.
