Just letting folk interested in our marsh nestled in the boreal forest that we caught our very first connecticut warbler today and recently banded a pine warbler which are very rare for our neck of the woods . We are experiencing our best warbler banding season on record with record numbers of cape may and parula's and have managed to catch all of the warbler species we have ever banded over the years all in one season. We are still hoping for some random southern warbler to wnder our way but thought folks might be interested in these rarities for the north and how our banding season was going.
The hilliardton marsh is located almost 6 hours north of toronto straight as the warbler flies on hwy 11 just north of the quaint hamlet of new liskeard 15 km from the quebec border _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists (OFO) - the provincial birding organization.
