Additionally, a couple from Kingston came by for a little while. Weather: Today's weather was nearly identical to yesterdays; slight south and southeasterly breeze, and very few clouds for the majority of the day. Yet again, it was relatively hazy. Raptor Observations: We had another small push of Broad-winged Hawks. Upon talking to others, many more were kettling up north of us toward Amherstburg, but unfortunately they were to far to see from the tower. Interestingly very few Am. Kestrels today compared to yesterday. Non-raptor Observations: There were approximately 285 Am. Coots out in the marsh today, as well as a pair of Redheads and the continuing dabbling ducks. 505 Blue Jays were counted migrating today, it has only just begun. Additionally 154 Cedar Waxwings, 52 Am. Goldfinches, and the first Pine Siskin of the season migrated over as well. Go here for the full eBird checklist: http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist/S39320060 There were 14 Monarchs counted migrating, as well as 45 Dragonflies. Predictions: Tomorrow will be very warm, mostly sunny, and easterly winds. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Sean Jenniskens ([email protected]) Holiday Beach Conservation Area information may be found at: http://hbmo.ca/ More site information at hawkcount.org: http://hawkcount.org/siteinfo.php?rsite=100 _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists (OFO) - the provincial birding organization.
