Weather: In a word.... FOG. A good chunk of the morning saw fog completely socking in the hawk watch resulting in no flight. Eventually, the fog burned off and a few birds crossed through. Temp got to a high of 21C and winds were light from the N and NW. Raptor Observations: Just 33 birds total today with Sharpies (20), N. Harriers (4), single each of Red-shoulder, Broadwing and Peregrine and a few more Am. Kestrels (6). Non-raptor Observations: Some non-raptors reported today with Am. Crow, Am. Robin, White-throated and Song Sparrow, Downy, Red-bellied Woodpeckers, YB Sapsuckers, N. Flickers, for warblers... Nashville, Yellow-rumped, Palm, Blackpoll and Orange-crowned, RC and GC Kinglets, House Wren, N. Cardinals, Eastern Phoebe, Gray Catbirds, Blue-headed Vireo, Brown Creeper, Hermit Thrush, DE Junco, Blue Jays and even a late RT Hummingbird. Predictions: Supposed to be strong ENE and E winds BUT a good chance of rain... so it's hard to say what the flight will be like. If the rain comes as predicted it will likely be enough to shut down the flight completely. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Dave Brown (thebro...@ezlink.on.ca) Hawk Cliff Hawkwatch information may be found at: http://www.ezlink.ca/~thebrowns/HawkCliff/index.htm More site information at hawkcount.org: http://hawkcount.org/siteinfo.php?rsite=392 _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists (OFO) - the provincial birding organization.
