I watched approximately 50-60 Sandhill Cranes foraging in the harvested corn fields south of Smith Road between Milton and 10th Line Roads for about 90 minutes around noon today, November 1, 2017. A larger number of Canada Geese were also there.
Several small (family?) groups of 4-5 birds each flew in to join the flock over the course of the time I observed them. The birds stayed about 400-500 meters from the road but were easily visible using binoculars. Here's a link to one of the images that I created although it was a big crop. https://www.flickr.com/photos/38402205@N06/24249753948/in/dateposted-public/ Good birding!
