Festival of Flight May 6th Afternoon Report A few enjoyable sightings in the afternoon with the continuation of the birds staying in the north end of the park. The water is calm in Rondeau Bay making waterfowl viewing prime. Both the Maintence area including the Log Pond have been excellent places to view bird activity with a White-eyed Vireo at each location. The two young male Summer Tanagers have been on the move today between the campsite and Maintenance area. Two Clay-colored Sparrows also gave splendid views today at Beach Access 10. The Marsh Trail has continued to provide a good diversity of birds throughout the day with 14 species of warblers.
Many of our warbler species are sticking to the willow trees where a buffet of flying insects are available to be foraged upon. The heat of the day has hit the park slowing down a lot of the viewing, it is sure to pickup along the lake and Marsh Trail area as the temperatures cool in the later part of the day. Good Birding. Join us from May 1st until the 20th for the Festival of Flight!
