Festival of Flight May 8th Morning Report

A fairly slow morning number wise for birds here in the park but nevertheless a
good morning for bird diversity.
Following the same pattern the birds are being found in the North end of the
park. Marsh Trail as well as the surrounding area including Water St has been
the hotspot for birding this morning.

A few rarity’s have popped up this morning including a Summer Tanager on Water
St south of the Marsh Trail Parking Lot, a Clay Colored Sparrow at the Yacht
Club, a Lark Sparrow on the marsh trail, and finally a Yellow-headed Blackbird
on the causeway just outside of the park gate. The Prothontary Warblers
continue to show very well at the Tulip Tree Trail.

Our morning hike had a lovely 60 species on the Marsh Trail this morning with
highlights including a Cape May Warbler, Yellow-throated Vireo, as well as a
few Sora calling. We are leading another walk at 7 PM walk at the Marsh Trail
Parking lot for a fee of $10 per person.

Join us from May 1st until the 20th for the Festival of Flight!
